  1. Should I keep an air purifier running constantly?
It is recommended to keep it running constantly during allergy season. Other factors will also dictate your decision on how long you run it. If you smoke, have pets, or like your windows open, you might want to consider running it continuously.

  3. How loud is an air purifier?
All purifiers are different, but at their max speed, they will compare to a fan, and at their lowest, it’s barely noticeable. This speed is recommended while sleeping. For more information on a specific unit, see our product guide.

  5. How do I know the XJ-2000 is working, it’s so quiet?
Because the XJ-2000 is so quiet, this question is often asked. We have put together a checklist for you to follow to make sure your unit is operating.
    1. A soft hissing sound. If you put your ear to the front grill, you will hear a soft hiss sound produced by the “ionic breeze” that the sixteen negative ions produce.
    2. Small blue lights. The tips of the ionic pins produce a glowing blue light on each of the sixteen pins. If you are in a dark room, look inside through the front grill and you will be able to see the pins glowing.
    3. Subtle, fresh scent. You will be able to smell a subtle, fresh “rain” scent near the unit. This is the small amount of active oxygen.
    4. Improved air quality. The most important thing you will notice is cleaner air, for example less dust and less allergy symptoms. If you suffered before, you will notice an improvement in your health.
    5. Particulate and pollutants on the collector plate. By running a clean tissue over the collector plates after a few days, you will notice a black residue.
  6. Back to Top

  7. How long do the ionic pins last?
The pins on the XJ-2000 are designed to produce high levels of negative ions or over three years because they are made of stainless steel.
  8. Back to Top

  9. Can one air purifier handle an entire home?
Many times it can. Units designed to handle 2000 – 3000 square feet will produce ozone levels above EPA standards and since negative ions or ozone cannot travel through walls and can only last around 30 seconds in the air, they’ll still only treat one room. But since our prices are so low, you can afford to buy one for every room of your home.
  10. Back to Top

  11. How many negative ions are produced by your unit?
The sixteen pins on the XJ-2000 produces trillions of negative ions from the front of the unit and produces more than 150,000 negative ions per square centimeter at three feet. That’s equal to the negative ion concentration near waterfalls, which is known to be the healthiest air known to mankind.
  12. Back to Top

  13. How much electricity do these air purification systems use?
If operated continuously, it would cost about $5 per year to operate
  14. Back to Top

  15. What does HEPA stand for?
HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air
  16. Back to Top

  17. What are ionic air purifiers and how do they relate to HEPA air filters?
Ionic air purifiers attach an electrical charge to the air that passes through the air purifier. This charge, usually a negative charge, then attracts positively charged particles that are floating in the air. This process “weighs down” the particles so that they sink out of the air. Ionic air purifiers are very effective when used in combination with a HEPA air filter.

  19. How will I know that the air purifier is actually cleaning effectively? Will the air smell different?
Many times you do not know the nit is working until you change the filter and notice how dirty it is. Some signs that are working are:
    1. less dust on the furnitur
    2. “Clean” smell to the air, especially when using units with additional ionic air purifiers.
    3. Decreased allergens in the home.
  20. Back to Top

  21. How is the appropriate size for indoor air purifiers determined?
CADR air purifier ratings should be used when selecting indoor air purifiers. These scores are generated from independent rating of room air purifiers tested under simulated world conditions. The higher the score, the better the unit cleans a home.
  22. Back to Top

  23. How small is a micron and why does it matter?
One micron is 1/25,000 of an inch. To give you an idea of how small that is, we can compare it to the size of a human hair that measures from 30 to 120 microns. That’s small!
  24. Back to Top

  25. How often should I change the filter?
You should check the filter once a month, clean or replace dirty filters, which reduces the air flow significantly.
  26. Back to Top

  27. Are there any units that can be mounted in different positions?
Yes, the Delonghi DAP70 and DAP130 can be mounted vertically, horizontally, or mounted on the wall.
  28. Back to Top

  29. I have high ceilings in my home, do I need to purchase a unit with more capacity?
If you have ceilings higher than 8 feet, it is recommended that you purchase a unit rated for a bigger room.
  30. Back to Top

  31. Will the unit remove smoke and other odors from clothing and furniture?
Yes, but it all depends how saturated the fabric is. It may take anywhere from 1 – 48 hours.
  32. Back to Top

  33. Are some people over sensitive to ozone?
Only about 2% of the entire population do show hypersensitivity to ozone, to varying degrees.
  34. Back to Top

  35. Can ozone be dangerous?
Yes, but only in extremely high concentrations.
  36. Back to Top

  37. Can I discontinue to use my asthma inhaler after I purchase one of your units?
No. An asthma inhaler is supposed to be used as needed. But, you will find that you will be using it less frequently.
  38. Back to Top

  39. Will these units cure my asthma or allergies?
No, these units are not designed to prevent asthma or allergies, but studies have shown that people who suffer from these two problems do benefit from an air purifier.
  40. Back to Top

  41. Does my home or office have an Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) problem?
With all the potential sources that cause air pollution out there, it is more likely to that there is a moderate amount of pollution. Homes and offices built in the past 20 years are more likely to have severe IAQ problems because of the effort our engineers made to make the buildings energy efficient, all the leaks were sealed keeping the outdoor air from mixing with the indoor air.
  42. Back to Top

  43. What contaminants contribute to poor indoor air quality?
Household cleansers, laundry detergents, air fresheners, aerosols, insecticides, insects, pet hair, dander, and litter boxes, cigarette smoke, food, dust (dust mites), people (dead skin, hair, perfume, etc.), carpet, construction materials, and anything moist can grow more. Additionally, items such as bedding/linens and furniture, even HVAC systems, can trap and collect contaminants.
  44. Back to Top

  45. Is Indoor Air Quality really a problem?
The Environmental Protection Agency has declared Indoor Air Quality the nations worst environmental problem.
  46. Back to Top

  47. How does Air Free work?
Air Free uses heat to sterilize the air dragged into its patented ceramic core by air convection.
  48. Back to Top

  49. Is the room humidity affected by Air Free?
    No.
  50. Back to Top

  51. How does Air Free eliminate dust mites?
Mold reduction in the atmosphere causes a reduction in the mold dependant dust mite population.
  52. Back to Top

  53. Does Air Free eliminate bacteria and germs?
Yes, Air Free’s bactericide and germicide efficiency is recognized by international independent laboratories and universities.
  54. Back to Top

  55. Should I unplug the unit when I leave the house or office?
No. To get the most from the unit, it should always be on and in the same room.
  56. Back to Top

  57. Can unit be installed in closets?
Yes, as long as is not under a shelf. It is ideal for pantries and should be placed free of obstacles. The recommended air space is 10 m3.
  58. Back to Top

  59. Do these units heat the room?
No, They are designed to avoid any sensible interference in room temperature and humidity.
  60. Back to Top

  61. Does AirFree remove or reduce dust?
Airfree does not remove or reduce dust. What it does is to turn them into harmless particles. Pets can cause problems to allergic patients in several ways. Their dander, or skin flakes, as well as their saliva and urine, can cause an allergic reaction. The animal hair is not considered to be a very significant allergen. However, the hair or fur can collect pollen, dust, mold and other allergens. Although most people believe they are allergic to an animal's hair, it is actually the allergens found in its dander, saliva or urine that is causing them to sneeze. Airfree technology destroys any kind of airborne protein. Mold, bacteria and viruses released from pets, are also destroyed by Airfree. You can find more information about Pet Allergy in the document attached.
